Hello Honda

My petrol flavoured obsession just went up a gear; for years I’ve been meaning to learn how to ride a motorbike and get my license and now I’m finally on my way. I found a 1971 Honda SL100 K1 XL Trail Bike – the perfect bike to learn on. It came from America some years back and has a great look about it; original patina on the fuel tank, just the right amount of rat – I absolutely love it. It’s only a 100cc but for a learner it will do nicely – a fun, classic toy to bomb around the fields on.

I’m so frustrated with myself for not learning to ride earlier, my Dad wanted to get me a motorbike when I was 16 but I’m pretty sure my Mum put the kibosh on that idea and that was that. I really like motorbikes but I’m not a good passenger so I only have an interest in being the rider or the driver of any vehicle – I like to be in control. So, it’s time to bite the bullet and learn to ride. I have a similar outlook on bike aesthetics as I do on cars, I prefer classics – metal and style, as little plastic as possible. So it makes sense to head that way with my first bike. So I did.

There’s not much more to say about this little gem really, because I don’t know it very well yet – but I know I like it and after some tinkering I’ll figure it all out. I haven’t seen a Honda SL100 K1 XL Trail Bike before so I just had to share the love because it really is a cool little bike and it looks damn good. Now I’m off to ride it so wish me luck…
